Raw used is a scan of a 16 mm film, captured by Kineko Video and provided by MartyMcFlies.
The subs are the same as in Orphan release of the LD version of the show, albeit with simplified typesetting because the image is a lot more jittery and this is meant to be a “side” release, a strange alternative for those few who could actually prefer this over the “main” LD version, because oh boy, this film had seen better days. The video is rife with film aging artifacts, most notably the weird blue flickering, which you don’t really notice until you start watching it. Still, I think it deserves to be released because even with all the artifacts it looks considerably crispier than the LD and comes in genuine 1080p.

This TV special combines animation and live-action sections, but since most of it is animation, I think this category is more fitting.

TL notes:

• The nickname children give to Ooishi - “Koishi-sensei” - is a parody of her name: Ooishi (大石) means “big stone” while Koishi (小石) means “small pebbles.”
• When Ooishi says “Today is 210th Day, huh?” she refers to the system, used by Japanese farmers to mark the end of the summer and the start of the typhoon season - “Nihyaku-Toka.”
• At one point, you might ask yourself, “What’s it to the principal if Ooishi is married or not?” Well, according to the customs of the time in Japan, her marital status was also in the principal’s area of responsibility, ever since she works on an important and public position of a school teacher, who has to set an example for others.
