I didn't find a release for it in English on here, so I decided to up the soft sub dual audio DVD release by AnimeCorpX. This OVA is two episodes, but got merged by the licensor when brought overseas, hence it being one file. Please seed if you can. I got it from BakaBT, so you can go ahead and seed it there as well if you would like, aside from the fact that I have it placed in a folder the file is exactly the same. Do you need to know anything about Shin Megami Tensei to enjoy this? Not really, this plays fast and loose with the setting, and I mean INCREDIBLY loose, it's not really based on any existing games. There are smatterings of beats it borrows from 1, like Cerberus, but it's kinda nothingburger. For SMT knowers, I think you should treat it in the same vein as a spin-off that has no bearing on the metaseries. There's more vaguely Buddhist rituals than actual demon summoning, and for some reason there are ninjas and also faction of witches...??? Also it takes the "True Reincarnation Goddess" title incredibly literally. It reminds me more of Megami Tensei than SMT at some points. The real question is, should you watch it? Eh. It's an interesting artifact, but it was an hour of my life I'm never getting back. Your mileage may vary though. I'm uploading it for preservation and accessibility purposes. Is it good? No, honestly it's complete ass, if you've watched any old trashy 90's OVAs of anything you could probably guess how this goes. There's a lot of gratuitous nudity and gore simply only because they can get away with it. It feels downright juvenile in that respect. The animation is so-so, there are some cool visuals but they are far and in between, the plot advances at breakneck speed at some point, the character designs are alright, personally I liked them. The seiyuu cast on this is incredibly stacked, but they are wasted on the material. The OVA itself gets kind of boring, so watching it with the cornball dub is your best bet in getting any entertainment value out of this whatsoever. The premise starts off somewhat interesting, so I wonder if the manga is actually better at delivering on it. It's not fully translated though and I don't think I wanna use brain power on reading it in Japanese (also, idk if I wanna expend effort finding the raws...) It's a very generic vaguely SMT flavored offering with a little BL breadcrumb trail, overall. One last thing, since this is what people usually know about first in this OVA: if you're watching for the gay guy, I can't say whether I recommend it on that basis or if I should tell you there's nothing here for you. He kind of just gets screwed over unceremoniously. At least if they wanted to screw him over, it would have made more sense if it was painted in a more intentional and karmic light, but nothing about this OVA feels intentional after the 30 minute mark, shit just happens. In general there isn't even any entertaining drama. Completely shits the bed.
