I know the size isn't ideal, but I wanted to make a torrent that would have lots of languages. In this case the audio tracks are 2/3 of the size of the encode.
Every audio track is 5.1 except for the Chinese(Mandarin) as it was stereo in the source.
Hope you guys enjoy and help seeding the torrent please.
File list
[Valenciano] Kimi no na wa (Your Name) (君の名は) [1080p][AV1 10bit][Opus 5.1][Multi-Audio][Multi-Sub].mkv (3.8 GiB)
The size is not a problem, we can always delete the unnecessary dubs, I'll take only JP audio for example.
MKVToolNix is the way.
Thank you for the encode! :)
Yeah but I suspect many people won't be bothered to do that and I don't blame them. I mean the size is till good for the amount of tracks it has, but it could've probably been 1.2 GiB or something like that with just the Japanese track.
I'm glad I helped you Hyperion, the main thing I seek with this kind of releases is to make it enjoyable for as many people as possible.
I hope she likes it :)
About this, there is a way to delete the unwanted dubs in just one click, totally user fliendly.
Look at this release: https://nyaa.si/view/1504113
You have to include mkvmerge.exe and some bat scripts ;)
It's pretty smart, but not ideal at all. The goal of "tiny" releases (x265 crf>=20, AV1 encodes) is to make it easier for anyone with a bad internet connection to download the files quickly and without hassle, not bloating the release with tons of languages most won't care about. In this way I can understand Valenciano's worry.
.mka files are a solution, but not ideal either, because many video players don't work out of the box with them. And most people are not willing to use MKVToolNix for that. That's why I'm searching for an even better solution right now, but I need some more work to be put into this.
I agree Trix, we've talked about this a bit. I like the idea of minimizing the size of the release and then letting people chose what tracks they may want, but right now I think it's too much of a hassle for the average user, if we find a way to make it easier I'd be more than happy to do so because we could save a lot of unnecessary bandwidth. Still I think 4 GiB is still pretty acceptable since it's about the size of a 4.7 GB DVD with a 1080p video stream and lots of audio tracks but yeah it'd be great if it could be smaller.
@chrnodroid While I could do that pretty easily I don't think it'd be worth it since you'd still have to download all the audio tracks, so unless I find a way for people to download it separately I probably won't do that.
Then, release audio track separately, in .mka, and make a script that will merge them at will.
By doing this, we have the possibility to not download unwanted audio tracks by torrent option.
Most complete audio and subs realese, nice color and quality, but worst devide compatibility (as any YUV coded realeases, not suitable for tv box, only for PC and mobile devices)
I don't think your comment makes much sense. If I don't use YUV what else do you expect me to use?
If you're worried about that then I guess you won't be able to use pretty much any video you find on the internet.
