**How to play** :
AV1 is a fairly new format and therefore has still playback and performance issues, especially with 10bit content.
It’s suggested to use MPV (https://mpv.io/) or the latest VLC Nightly (https://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win64/).
If VLC is lagging: Try increasing the “File caching (ms)” to e.g. 1000ms.
Minimum CPU requirements: 2nd Gen i5 and higher. Newer mobile devices should be able to play AV1 using VLC.
Performance improvements from the decoder are still work in progress.

**Synopsis**:
>Yotarou is a former yakuza member fresh out of prison and fixated on just one thing: rather than return to a life of crime, the young man aspires to take to the stage of Rakugo, a traditional Japanese form of comedic storytelling. Inspired during his incarceration by the performance of distinguished practitioner Yakumo Yuurakutei, he sets his mind on meeting the man who changed his life. After hearing Yotarou's desperate appeal for his mentorship, Yakumo is left with no choice but to accept his very first apprentice.
>
>As he eagerly begins his training, Yotarou meets Konatsu, an abrasive young woman who has been under Yakumo's care ever since her beloved father Sukeroku Yuurakutei, another prolific Rakugo performer, passed away. Through her hidden passion, Yotarou is drawn to Sukeroku's unique style of Rakugo despite learning under contrasting techniques. Upon seeing this, old memories and feelings return to Yakumo who reminisces about a much earlier time when he made a promise with his greatest rival.

We need an 8 bit version to play on PCs. I have a modern 8 core processor and still can not play such video without dropping frames until it gets down to 480p resolution.
The source is probably 8 bit color anyway, in which case it is a waste to encode it to 10 bit color.
The best way to reduce banding is to enable the debanding filter in the video player when you play back. `mpv --deband`, possibly with option `deband-grain=0` . You can even distribute a configuration file for playback for specific videos if you wish and MPV will read them if so configured.
@Hogoledo As I've mentioned previously, this one plays fine even on i5 3320M processor with MPV. I'd recommend watching the encode and then if you are having issues reporting it.
