Yooo! They actually DID dub season 2? Thanks so much, man! I've been looking for info on a possible dub since the subbed version started coming out. Never managed to find a single source confirming it.
@UniversalX1 Does it sound a lot different then the season 1 dub? Is it still good, even with the different cast? I can't watch it yet as I'm stuck as 60% right now on the download.
@UniversalX1 Yeah, it's been a while since I watched season 1 (watched it while it was coming out, one episode per week). But, though I don't know yet if it'll actually go anywhere, I'm actually currently studying voice acting. So, dub performance in any anime I watch is always something I pay attention to. And yeah, so far I've watched two episodes of the second season and it's not bad. Kayli Mills, as far as I can tell, is matching Sarah Wiedenheft's performance from season 1 almost perfectly. But, honestly, Billy Kametz should've put just a smidge more energy into his Nishikata. What bugs me the most though is that they changed how they pronounce several of the names, compared to season 1. For the most part, it's just the shift of the emphasis to a different syllable, which is somewhat common but still makes the name sound different. But, more than that, the addition of the "-san" honorific at the end of the name by Nishikata when addressing Takagi. it just always sounds so awkward to me. With proper localization, that should be excluded in the english dub (emphasis on "proper" as I'm sure we've all seen anime with abysmal localization).
Anyway, sorry. Went a bit too deep into it. But I like analyzing this kinda stuff. lol
@t1pak The reason why they added the -san honorific to Nishikata's lines was because of the honorifics chapter in episode 3. If they hadn't added that, that scene would make zero sense. The problem though is that even though Nishikata uses that honorific, none of the other characters in the show use honorifics at all, so it makes the dub as a whole sound awkward and inconsistent. It's an example of bad script adaptation.
@JRD179 Yup, my point, exactly. That, and, like I said, the incorrect pronounciation of the names and the lack of energy in the delivery of some lines, which means poor directing. At the very least, whoever was in charge of directing this season's dub should've had the cast watch season 1's dub for reference. But, that obviously didn't happen here. Still, to be fair, though, those few small complaints aside, I can't say the dub here is bad. It's just not as good as it could've been.
Wait this got a dub??? i have been waiting since Season 2 for it to be released on netflix here... i seriously thought it was only Season 1 on Netflix, so i sat waiting for the Dub... till the nendoroid was announced today, i went to see when the dub would release... and it already bloody happened... i must have skipped all the news about.
