I bring good news; the fine folks at Sol Press have licensed ~~a better version of The Asterisk War also Stella best girl~~ Chivalry of a Failed Knight for English release and published the first three volumes (apparently they've been working on this for a while). I guess there is a god.
"Light novels are the pinnacle of all entertainment" - ~~Me~~ Absolutely, definitely nobody

Fan translation is already up to volume 11 and I try to stick with that version whenever it's available.Remember Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei?(an Abomination!)
I think ‘an abomination’ is a little harsh. Even if you did think it really was unreadably bad, its more of an outlier than anything else. It's not the same as with anime, where fansubbers are consistently better than official releases. When it comes to full-length novels, many fan translations are of poor or even machine-translated quality. I actually had to stop reading Date A Live because the translation quality got so poor it became impossible to tell what was happening. Yeah, the English licensing on Light Novels is kinda a new concept for a lot of people, but it’s important to remember these are actual publishing companies; in other words, they have the resources, editing, and translation talent to make truly amazing stories. I’ve personally never run into a J-Novel Club or Sol Press novel I didn’t like (in terms of localization), and even some of the other companies, like Yen Press (publisher of Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei) have gotten way better. I understand why you may not want to give it a shot, but I implore you to try. You may discover that it far exceeds your expectations.
Yeah I agree @gflare when it comes to anime fan subs outright flattens offical ones but when it comes to manga or LN official are far better than fansubs. Demon Slayer is good example of it fan scalation put "pig assault" to make it funny and I found it really bad.
Yeah, a common issue with fan translations is when they put in little jokes or bits of humor where it really isn't warranted. If a certain section of manga/LN doesn't have any jokes in it, it's probably because the author meant for it to be serious, and the random additions of the translator can sometimes ruin the scene.
There are a plethora of free software applications available for converting epubs into PDFs. I recommend [Calibre](
https://calibre-ebook.com). [Here](https://www.epubor.com/convert-epub-to-pdf-calibre.html) is a guide for how to convert the books to PDFs once you download Calibre.
Thank you for making this available. I'm surprised to learn that the LN series is *just now* getting an official translation run, despite being pretty popular in Japan and the anime (I'm assuming) doing pretty well overseas.
I read this on BakaTsuki a few years back. I've been surprised ever since that it hasn't had an official translation. Glad to see it finally getting the attention it deserves
