SomaHeir
This is good :)
Thanks!
Is it possible if you could do Aria The Animation BD’s once the retail version comes out next year?? ^^

@SomaHeir If someone uploads the BDMV when it releases and no one else provides a decent encode I’ll strongly consider it.

@Tesseract
Thank you for the responose! Really appreciate it :)

Better than Moozzi and the Web version?
warui
^ No, as Moozzi didn’t degrain it as this one did and it doesn’t seem to be altered with his/her usual color filtering. Grab that if you like Moozzi’s stuff. As for the web this is a 720p, web is 1080p. My guess is web and BD both used the same masters.

I agree Moozzi’s encode is definitely higher quality but then again this torrent is about a 1/4 the file size. I did degrain the video but I made sure to use rather light settings so the video still does contain some grain and isn’t overly blurry. The screenshots aren’t really the best representation of the video as they look far smoother compared to the actual video since they’re still frames. Degrain was the only way to reduce the file size without it the files were nearly 3 to 4 times larger.
As for the encode being 720p I didn’t notice much of a difference between the 720p upscaled to 1080p by a video player and native 1080p, so I choose 720p to save space. I imagine the 1080p web version probably looks slightly sharper since it wasn’t degrained but then again it’s over twice the size of this encode and I don’t think the quality difference would be high enough to justify the size difference.
Normally I try to provide encodes that look at close to the BDMV as possible but in this case I didn’t want to dedicate a lot of hard drive space to this show. Just thought I would clear up why I encoded this the way I did. If you aren’t a fan of degraining and storage space/bandwidth isn’t a concern I would highly recommend Moozzi’s encode instead of this one although I feel for most people this encode should be perfectly serviceable.

Both serve their purpose. Some don’t like the grain and others do.
The issue with degraining is that luma can be really telling if comparisons get involved to the original such as yours. The blurriness can be seen. I really wish these studios would stop doing this excessive amount of grain and just do normal grain and dither. There’s some old shows that do that.

The video is broken… Are others okay?

@MiRT : " High 4:4:4" …you might need to update your player
MiRT
@unmei : Thank you. Now no problem.

Anyone know which movie this one is? Going to assume it’s “Ano Hi ni Kaeritai” and not the sequel.
